You may have seen the Kardashian–Jenner clan promoting the popular Sugarbearhair supplements online due to their paid partnership with the said brand. This Sugarbearhair review is for you, if you have been struggling to grow out long, healthy and silky locks and you want to determine if Sugarbearhair is the right fit for you.
But did you know?
Sometimes celebrities have been known to endorse products that do not necessarily work. Now, this does not mean all celebrity-endorsed products fall short of expectations – think Michael Jordan and Nike, Jennifer Aniston and Aveeno or Michael Phelps and Talkspace!
In this Sugarbearhair review, we research if the endorsed by the Kardashian–Jenner clan vitamins are as safe, effective and of high quality as they say.
Here we cover everything you need to know about:
- The Sugarbearhair products and their ingredient mix,
- As well as the pros and cons, side effects and results of using them.

What is Sugarbearhair?
Sugarbearhair is:
- The #1 best selling hair supplement available online since 2016
- The world’s first gummy vegetarian hair multivitamin

Now you may ask what is a gummy vegetarian hair multivitamin?

While they look and taste fantastic, the product was designed for men as well as women who want healthy longer hair, and not necessarily for people suffering from hair loss (alopecia) and/or genetic balding problems.
In 2016:
This product developed by Dan Morris and Nicole Johnson (also known as Nicole Nightly) of Besweet Creations LLC in the USA took the hair care industry by a storm, boosting online sales.
Today:
The brand has two additional hair vitamins options and an assortment of hair care products such as scrunchies, bamboo brushes, sleep socks, etc. It has captured the attention of hair supplement users worldwide.
But does the product deliver what it promises?
Let’s take a closer look at their product line in the next section.
What is in the Sugarbearhair Product Line?
Sugarbearhair multivitamins has three major products:

Who is it for?
Designed for men and women looking to grow long and healthy hair. Women who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding should consult a doctor before using this.

Who is it for?
Designed for women who have unhealthy eating habits and diet patterns so that they can intake the nutrients they are missing in the form of supplements
All three vitamins complement each other and therefore, can be taken together as specified by the Sugarbearhair brand. While the products do contain sugars and sodium, they are in very small amounts. |
Pros and Cons of their Bestseller: Sugarbearhair Vitamins

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
On Amazon it has 4.3 stars out of 5 with a staggering 12,395 ratings at current | Have high amounts of lead |
Great for people who want long healthy hair | A vegetarian product, not vegan |
It’s a multivitamin providing nutrients such as biotin, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, etc. which has other benefits in addition to hair benefits | May carry higher dosage amounts than specified on the supplement label |
Looks, tastes and smells great | Contains glucose syrup which is an artificial sweetener |
The Good
Sugarbearhair is an FDA approved hair supplement that is animal cruelty-free, gluten-free, gelatin-free, soy-free, wheat-free, dairy-free, beef free, pork-free, egg-free, fish-free, and peanut-free. Unfortunately, it is not vegan because their Vitamin D is sourced from wool.
The product when consumed according to the daily dosage amount (two gummies), only contains 3 g of added sugars. Altogether two gummies have 15 calories.
The Bad
The dosage amounts of the ingredients listed on the Sugarbearhair label does not tarry with the actual amounts in the gummies. When Labdoor, an independent San Francisco laboratory tested 11 ingredients; 7 out 11 ingredients listed on the label were inaccurate by 20 percent or more.
However:
You have to keep in mind that natural ingredients when synthesized into a supplement format naturally degrade with time.
The higher ingredient amounts are not as scary as it sounds when you realize that Sugarbearhair contains higher amounts of ingredients such as biotin which is a water-soluble vitamin that flushes out with urine when the body has too much biotin.
No adverse consequences were observed because premium, natural ingredients are used in Sugarbearhair.
In the name of transparency:
Sugarbearhair has also made the full supplement label available on their website itself, so that you can go through it carefully before deciding if this is the supplement for you:

Key Ingredients in their Bestseller: Sugarbearhair Vitamins
It is important to determine if the supplement you are consuming carries the right nutrients to support hair health and maintenance. Here we take a closer look at the ingredients in their bestselling multivitamin for healthy long hair.
Biotin
Biotin is all the rage in the supplement culture these days!
It is a water-soluble vitamin that is found in small amounts in food such as eggs, milk, banana, etc.
Why is this so popular?
Unfortunately:
Research about the effects of Biotin on the human body is still a field in its infancy. There is insufficient evidence to support a lot of these claims because the research horizons need to be broadened.
There is evidence that Biotin helps counter hair loss but science needs to catch up to solidify the notion. Sugarbearhair according to the label carries 5100 mcg of Biotin.
Coconut Oil
The coconut tree is a goldmine.
Each of its parts can be used to perform a specific function for us that betters our lives.
Right now:
All around the world, coconut oil has gained traction for being one of Mother Nature’s natural remedies.
In fact:
Be it bleached, UV exposed, permed, chemically treated hair or virgin hair – coconut oil is a whiz at protecting your precious locks and keeping it thick and strong!
Folic Acid (Vitamin B-9)
Why is folic acid important?
It’s at the heart of healthy cell growth. This includes the healthy growth of your hair, nails and skin tissue. It has the added benefit of keeping red blood cells healthy.
However, like Biotin, the research on the effects of folic acid on hair is minimal.
Thus there is a spurred interest in folic acid as a potential hair growth treatment.
Iodine
You may have seen iodised salt in your local supermarket. It is salt particles sprinkled with trace amounts of potassium iodate. Basically, iodised salt provides you iodine which is not found in your usual diet.
While you do not need a mass amount of the iodine mineral in your system daily, a lack of iodine can cause iodine deficiency; the symptoms of which are goiters, thyroid problems, squinting, deafness, breast cysts, and developmental disorders.
An iodine deficiency can also cause thinning hair because your hair follicles are unable to regenerate. An average adult only needs 150 mcg per day and Sugarbearhair contains 42 mcg of iodine according to the supplement label, which means it is likely safe to consume.
Inositol
Inositol is a major part of your cell membranes and influences insulin which controls your blood sugar levels. It is a naturally occurring compound that can be consumed via beans, citrus fruit, cantaloupe, beef, pork, fish, poultry, etc.
What it can do for hair is that:
Sugarbearhair contains 40 mcg of inositol.
Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B-5)
Vitamin B5 is a water-soluble vitamin from the B group of vitamins. It helps produce energy by breaking down fats and carbohydrates.
Additionally, it provides moisture to hair, plays a major role in cell division in hair follicles and comes packed with anti-inflammatory properties. If you take pantothenic acid naturally, it can be found in food such as mushrooms, eggs and green leafy vegetables.
Sugarbearhair contains 5.2 mg of pantothenic acid.
Sodium
Salt regulates the fluids in the body. It is a necessity for muscle and nerve function.
When it comes to hair health, it works on a very thin line. There are anti-dandruff treatments that apply salt on hair to loosen and remove flakes. It also absorbs extra oil and moisture that contribute to fungi growth in hair.
What borders on dangerous is when you consume more than 2300 mg of salt per day.
Fortunately, Sugarbearhair multivitamins only contain 10 mg of salt in each serving.
Vitamin A (Palmitate)
Vitamin A is all about giving you a healthy scalp for healthy hair.
It is also found in food such as carrots and vegetables. It strengthens your hair roots and keeps hair lush and supple.
Sugarbearhair contains 630 mcg RAE of vitamin A.
Vitamin B-6
Everyone will agree:
That long hair is a bigger commitment when you think about how you have to plan ahead your hair wash days to have ample time to let it dry naturally without damaging hair with heat from blow dryers.
What’s interesting about vitamin B-6 is that:
Sugarbearhair contains 2 mg of vitamin B-6.
Vitamin B-12
Our red blood cells do some amazing things to sustain our bodies.
So how does B-12 get involved with red blood cells?
It is a key component in forming your oxygen-rich and nutrient-rich red blood cells. They push oxygen and other nutrients along the body. This is what is precisely needed for your hair roots to grow sustainably.
Sugarbearhair contains 6 mcg of vitamin B-12.
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acids)
Who doesn’t associate the orange fruit with vitamin C?
From childhood our parents have been urging us to consume citrusy food containing Vitamin C for better health. But what does it do for your hair?
Vitamin C’s collagen production works as protein for your hair.
In short:
Sugarbearhair contains 20 mg of vitamin C.
Vitamin D
The best way to produce vitamin D is to stand in morning sun!
That’s why it’s called the sunshine vitamin.
Vitamin D is so important to maintain bone and joint health. When it comes to hair health it contributes to producing new hair follicles that helps to maintain hair thickness and strengthen existing hair.
Sugarbearhair contains 10 mcg of vitamin D.
Vitamin E
The combination of vitamin C and E, gives your hair elasticity.
It helps to pump blood throughout your body which means that when your hair follicles have a sufficient dose of blood circulating through the roots that it can help with long term anti-breakage.
Sugarbearhair contains 7.4 mg of vitamin E.
Zinc
Now more than ever your body’s ability to fight bacteria and viruses have become important due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
Zinc does this!
While it helps to prevent the intrusion of microorganisms, it also helps to make DNA. Zinc is available naturally in food such as fish, red meat and poultry.
But how does zinc affect hair growth?
Sugarbearhair contains 2.7 mg of zinc.

What are the Side Effects of SugarBearHair’s Bestseller?
It is logical to admit that because different people encounter different deficiencies and environmental factors that result in hair loss, hair thinning, slow regrowth, etc. that how SugarBearHair affects each and every individual differs.
Scientific research about the ingredient makeup matched with people’s results showcase consistencies concerning how the product actually works well!
But:
That does NOT mean everything is sunshine and roses.
SugarBearHair does cause some side effects which may concern potential users.
- The complaint across the board appears to be cystic acne.
There are 50+ reviews on Amazon at current, complaining of cystic acne breakouts. Certain customers talk about how the product delivers what is promised; long healthy hair but gives them acne. However, some talk about how the acne went away after a couple of weeks of use.
Thus it is clear that this complaint is dependent on each individual’s sensitivity.
If you are sensitive to acne breakouts, we recommend you to stay away from this product.
- Inositol can cause mild side effects such as nausea, stomach pain, tiredness, headache, and dizziness.
- Biotin can cause thyroid levels to lower which can darken your urine.
- Glucose syrup is an artificial sweetener which contains high amounts of sugar. Consuming this is a health risk for people with diabetes because it leads the body to secrete more insulin.
Additionally it can cause hormonal imbalance in your body and may also be hard for your body to digest.
These are the side effects you need to be aware of before you make your purchase. If you encounter any adverse side effects, stop immediately and seek medical help.

Therefore, if you are buying from Amazon, verify the distributor/ seller.
Final Verdict on SugarBearHair
So are the hair supplements endorsed by the Kardashian-Jenner clan delivering what they promise?
Here is our research findings:
All Products Work Together to Optimize Overall Health
The three supplement options offered by SugarBearHair;
- SugarBearHair Vitamins,
- SugarBearHair Women’s Multi,
- and Sugarbear Sleep Vitamins, all work together to optimize overall body health.
The blue bears support hair health while the pink and purple bears support body health and the sleep cycle, respectively.
Gives You Long and Healthy Hair
If what you are looking for is long and healthy hair, then SugarBearHair delivers what they promise. Ingredients such as vitamin B-12 can accelerate hair growth.
However, the effectiveness of using SugarBearHair to treat hair loss is a debated topic. While the science is sketchy, there are customers on Amazon who rave about how they were able to regrow hair that fell out due to stress, pregnancy, environment change, etc.
It may not be suitable to treat genetic hair loss because there isn’t sufficient evidence to back up the claim.
Ingredient Makeup is Transparent but…
While the ingredients and dosage levels are outlined clearly, a test done by an independent laboratory called Labdoor revealed that the dosage levels in the supplements they tested do not match up with the label specifications.
Additionally, there are ingredients in the product whose dosage amount has not been specified.
e.g. Glucose Syrup, Titanium Dioxide (for color), Carnauba Wax
Contains Artificial Sugars
Glucose syrup is an artificial sweetener that can cause hormonal imbalance in people. It is unsuitable for diabetics to consume this.
The fact that the label has not specified how much glucose syrup is there is very vexing because high amounts of glucose syrup is not suitable for daily consumption.
Most Common Side Effect is Cystic Acne
While there are multiple users who have benefited from this product, there are users who have observed acne breakouts. There are also users who saw significant hair growth coupled with acne breakouts.
Therefore, If you are sensitive to acne breakouts, this might not be the product for you.
But if you do want to try out the product and are sensitive to acne breakouts, take precautions such as limiting makeup, limiting sun exposure, hydrating well, limiting consumption of oily and greasy food, washing your face and applying tea tree oil to places that get inflamed.
But if it gets severe, stop immediately.
